Greetings parents,
This was a very busy weekend with five events planned and executed this weekend. Thank you for enabling our cadets to support these valuable developmental opportunities.
Congratulations to our Raider Team for their outstanding 3d place finish at the Stratford High School JROTC Raider Meet. Our cadets placed 1st in the Team Physical Fitness Challenge, 1st in the Fireman’s Carry and 1st in the Litter Carry as well as 3d place finishes in Team Pull Ups and Endurance 5 kilometer ruck run. Well done!
Similarly, giant kudos to our Drill and Ceremonies team for their performance at the highly attended drill meet at The Citadel. Highlights include our Freshmen’s 3d place finish in their routine, Cadet Caleb Bennett’s 2d place finish among 250+ cadets in the Knockout Round, and Cadet Jermaine Nesbitt’s 3d place finish in the Individual Exhibition!
Our Cyber team worked for 6 hours at The Citadel in round 1 of the two round national Cyber Patriot exercise. Further, our cadets accomplished two major community service events this weekend, 3 hours unloading over 1,500 pumpkins for the St George’s Episcopal Church Pumpkin Patch and today’s support through all three phases of the annual Kiawah Triathlon that was unexpectedly delayed two weeks due to the recent Hurricane earlier this month.
Before laying out this week’s schedule, I want to highlight the kick off of our major fundraiser on Thursday – SnapRaise! Cadets are asked to bring in 20 emails for friends, families, and neighbors who might be willing to support them and our program with a donation in any amount. This fundraiser is the backbone for our ability to sustain our myriad of competition teams, travel, equipment, uniform maintenance, community service projects, and every aspect of our program. Please help your sons and daughters by assisting them with identifying 20 emails we can reach out to in order to share our story and solicit support.
NEW this year – 50% of the money raised by each individual cadet through SnapRaise! will go toward their individual Curriculum in Action trip cost up to $555 (the total cost for the trip) IF they are signed up to attend with us April 27-30. Trip details are located on our website. Currently there are only 17 slots left – slots are on a first come basis for cadets who bring in their $100 deposit. Please consider allowing your son or daughter to attend and promote them to utilize the SnapRaise fundraiser to help offset part of the cost. This trip will be extremely fun and educational – we are visiting the National Museum of the Air Force and King’s Island Amusement Park near Dayton, OH.
